Patience- The Conquering Virtue

“Patience is bitter but it’s fruits are sweet.”- Aristotle

How many times would you have thought back to a situation and then felt, ” How I wish I hadn’t made that statement. If I had just taken a few minutes to think….” But what is the use of regretting now? The damage that had to be done has already happened.

It is in these situations that a little bit of patience does a whole lot of good.

Patience is not a weakness. On the contrary, it is power. A patient person is not submissive, he or she is not a silent and stupid person who will endure all kinds of atrocities. This is a wrong notion. A patient person knows that making statements and taking decisions in the heat of the moment will only worsen the situation. He knows that a little bit of silence will make a much larger impact when compared to an hour spent screaming and trying to prove his point.

So the next time you feel impatient and proceed to do something in that frame of mind, remember the number of things that are at stake…

Patience is the companion of wisdom.”- St. Augustine
